Absolutely....

I don't know what your talking about set the meter on ohms. I thought it was on ohms. Please clarify thanks

In this new pix of the meter , you already have the meter set on ohms....
That is the setting I'll be asking for along with DC volts....

The IC you noted is not the one I'm looking for....
LA7841 is a Vertical output IC that spreads the pix from top to bottom....
I'm looking for the power supply IC...
That should be a STRxxxx type IC...
Look around the area for a heatsink with that type IC mounted on it...
It should have 5 pins coming out of the bottom , maybe more....
So , take a pix of a larger area around the AC cord...
Include a pix that has about a foot (12 inches) of the area....

Time for me to be a couch potato....
See ya tommorrow....

Have a good evening....

okay the only things attached to the heat sinks are

the transistor that went bad in the first place three pins

# D1880

The vertical IC seven pins

#LA7841

an ic next to the RF cable hook up ten pins

# LA4600
9ZRA

One right next the AC wires not an ic it's a Q601 it's got three pins

# C4423
0A4

And one near the AC wires also not an ic it's a q462 and it has three pins

# B1274
R 0B2

there are no STRxxx IC sorry which on of these five that i named is it?

hears the photo you wanted

Uzail;.....

You take some REALY good pix...THANK you....
Is that pix of the whole chassis ????
Also;

Then take a reading from the center pin on the board to chassis ground & post reading.....

You are doing a good job responding . but please don't skip over any of my requests....^^^

In the pix on the far bottom left side is a heat sink , see red arrow in pix below...
What is on that one ???

In the magenta & aqua circles are some resistors...
Please give me their board numbers (Rxxx) & the colors of their bands on each one....
Right above the magenta (Purple (???)) circle is a transistor on a heat sink...
What is that one ???

Did you hear a "click" when you first turned the TV on ???
Do NOT plug it in to check for that at this time....
IF you can recall whether or not it did , fine...
IF you can't recall , don't worry about it.....

PLEASE answer ALL questions & post the reading I asked for...THANKS....Sly.....

Re: [Ron.M] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks very much :)

To answer your question. That is the whole board

Then take a reading from the center pin on the board to chassis ground & post reading.....

I thought i already did that

Red arrow = # on board is Q462

the # on the transistor is B1274
R 0B2
NOT SURE IF THAT 1 IS A J OR NOT REALLY HARD TO READ

In the magenta circle the resistor closest to the transistor bolted to the heat sink. it's

# on the board is R604 and the bands are red red black gold reading from the right

The next resistor closet to the huge capacitor.

# on board is R606 and the bands are red red black gold reading from the left

The resistors in the aqua.

The one closest to the flyback controller

# on the board is R613 and that bands are red purple black gold reading from the right

the one closet to the heat sink in the corner

# on board is R618 the bands are red purple black gold reading from the right

the heat sink above the magenta circle

#on board is Q601

# on transistor is C4423
0A4

I think i did hear a click but i'm not completely sure. Why? what would that mean?

Uzail;.....

From post #16;....

Quote
Also , remove the HOT from the set....
Use a solder-wick to unsolder it....
If you dont have it , get it as you will need it in the future....
The HOT has one small screw at the top center holding it to the heat
sink with a small nut & washer....
Use a pair of needle nosed pliers to grab & hold the nut....
Re-check it using ohms....
Put one lead on the center pin to either one of the outside pins...
Take reading.....
Also , take a reading from the center HOT pin connection on the chassis to ground....
Post info....

At this point the HOT was outta the set & I expected a reading from the center HOT pin connection on the chassis to ground on the board !!!....

Then you did this in post #21;=>...

Quote
One quick thing i replaced the transistor and it turned on, and then off. I killed the other transistor it's something else.

Then you said this in post #23;=>...

Quote
The reading from the transistors middle pin to ground is 007 ohms..

Then you said this in post #26 ;=>....

Quote
Hey sorry i forgot to ask you do you want me to take the new HOT that is fried out?

Then I said this in post #30;=>...

Quote
Absolutely....
Then take a reading from the center pin on the board to chassis ground & post reading.....

At this point , I assume you had the HOT outta the set !!!!

I repeated my request in post #32....

In today's post you said;=>...

Quote
Then take a reading from the center pin on the board to chassis ground & post reading.....
I thought i already did that

Yes you did......
However , when I asked for that , the HOT was supposed to be outta the set with none in there....

Wanna try this again ???...
This time , nothing on the board where the HOT was....

I think i did hear a click but i'm not completely sure. Why? what would that mean?

I'll explain that later....Not a problem.....

Okay so i took the HOT out, and i took a reading from the middle connection to ground. Mind you the HOT was out of the board. on the ohms scale 2000 it reads 1.

Uzail;....

OK.....Next step(s)....

A reading of "1" indicates to me that you have a short on that line....
Go to the power transformer "T601" pin #16...
T601 is almost smack dab in the middle of the board....
Look for D625....
Unsolder the band end & gently pull it thru the board....
Take a reading from BOTH ends to chassis ground & post readings....
Leave it as is & leave the HOT's OUT of the set....

Do you have an ESR meter or a cap checker ???

What was the number on the HOT that you used to replace the original (D1880) with ???

THANKS.....Sly....

Uzail;....

Ask your friend if you can borrow it (the ESR meter) & if he/she'll teach you how to use it....
Not vital to have one....

Your meter readings are confusing me....
Give me the model number again....

Also , post pix with the meter on ohms "2000"...
Show me the reading on the meter with the leads shorted together in 1 pix....
And then show me the reading on the meter without the leads touching each other in the 2nd pix....

And , yes , I stole your chassis pix to try & help someone else here....Unsure...
You caught me...Wink....Smile....

Re: [Uzail] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Uzail;....

OK....Now it gets a bit adventurous....

Put D625 back in & solder it.....
Leave the HOT out....
(Do you have another D1879 for replacement ???)

Set the chassis in such a way that you can SAFELY read the voltage (About 130 vdc) from the center pin of the HOT to chassis ground....
Turn the TV on...
See IF it STAYS on ....
Post readings & IF it stays on....
IF it stays on:
Go to Q401...
Right at the bend of the heatsink for the HOT & between it & the heatsink for the vertical out IC (IC501= LA7841) is a small transistor (Q401)...
In your pix that area looks a bit cooked...
IS it ????
With the board in a SAFE position you need to CAREFULLY read the voltage on the collector & the base pins...
The collector will go to T401 & have about 130 vdc (OR 38 vdc) when turned on ...
The base will have R404 hooked up to it & should have about 2 vdc (OR .4 vdc) when turned on...
The 3rd pin (the emitter) goes to ground & will read a short when you use ohms with the TV off & unplugged...
Post ALL readings & answer my questions....THANKS....

Good Luck....Sly.....

Re: [Ron.M] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

I have a question. How will the tv stay on without the HOT? I can't find Q401 i see a transistor but it's not Q401
It's IC 601 on the board also when i'm trying to read the vdc on the tv does the screen have to be plugged in?

To answer your question the board is burned there and it's also burned next to R618 and R613 i believe you marked it in aqua a bit back on the forum.

See pix below;=>....

It's that little black thing at the end of my arrow...
Check & re-solder all the connections in both marked areas that look bad in the pix earlier in the thread....

Quote
How will the tv stay on without the HOT?

Don't worry about that...
New method;=>.....

Unplug the TV for about 5 mins....
This allows it to reset itself & let that 130 vdc dwindle down a bit.....
Have your meter hooked up to a check point where you want to read a voltage...
Plug the set in ....
Note what your meter reads....
Turn the TV on....
Note what the meter reads....
Repeat this for each voltage...
Unplug it, wait , plug it in & take reading...
Post new readings....
Be absolutely CERTAIN you are using the tuner case as ground....
Please post readings when you first plug the TV in & when you turn it on for each test....
