I took all the questions marks as an offense. I have heard about some of these guys on these forum pages, and I know they can be pretty ruthless. I thought you where looking down at me with that question. I tried to apologize, and that's all i'm doing. You can take or leave it but I'm done. I said I was wrong and way out of line.

That's all. You have a wonderful life Ron :)

Uzail;....

OK ...Tell you what....
They say that everybody makes mistakes (Myself included)....
You seem genuine in your apology....
I'm inclined to believe you when you say you are going thru a rough time & you are not a bad guy....
So , apology accepted.....

Quote
I took all the questions marks as an offense.

I don't know why you did....
It's just my way of emphasizing a point....

Lets move on to seeing what we can do for your TV.....

First a few questions;=>....

#1=..How much electronic/TV repair background experience do you have ????

#2=...Can you take & post pix if needed ???

Next , you need to decide on which thread we are going to do this on....
This one OR the other one ???

Whichever one you decide to keep , delete your posts on the other one & I'll do the same....

Let me know what you decide....

Okay first of all thank you soooo much for excepting my apology. I was a real jack off you seem like a real nice guy, and you didn't deserve that. Anyway i don't have any tv knowledge but i have fixed other electronics so I'm not completely retarded in that area. lol um i think i should be able to do that if needed.

Thanks again i will wait patiently for your reply hahahah

Re: [Uzail] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Uzail;.....

OK....
First thing I want you to check is the main fuse....
That should be a glass fuse near where the AC cord attaches to the chassis....
It'll be about a 4 or 5 amp fuse....
Set your meter to ohms & with the TV unplugged read across the fuse...
Should get a reading of near zero ohms....
If it is open , stop here & post.....
If it checks good , you need to check the Horiz out transistor (Known as "HOT")....
That is a transistor with 3 wires (pins) coming out from the bottom , about 1 inch across & 1 & 1/2 inches tall , & mounted on a heat sink near the flyback transformer...
The flyback transformer is the unit that has a thick red wire coming from the top of it to the side or top of the CRT ( picture tube)....
That wire has about 30,000 volts ( << NOT a typo !!!) on it when the TV is working & can hold a charge....Zap your butt good....
Put the positive lead from your meter (on ohms again) to the center pin on the HOT & the negative lead to chassis ground...
Chassis ground can best be found on the tuner covers or the antenna/cable connector...
Read the ohms...When you first hook up the meter there , you will get a low reading....
This is normal as the meter puts out a very low voltage in order to make a ohms measurement & takes little while to charge the circuit up to get a reading.
So wait for the meter to settle in & post the reading.......
That'll get you started....
I do not have the manual for that TV , so , we both may learn sumptin here....

I deleted ALL my posts on the other thread , so we'll use this one...
THANKS....Sly....

Good Luck....Sly....

Re: [Ron.M] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Okay the fuse is reading 001 ohms so that's pretty close to zero. The transistor is reading 007 ohms.
Not sure how to translate that. I guess that's it.

Thanks, talk to you soon. :)

Uzail;....

The reading for the fuse is OK (???)....
The reading for the transistor is NOT (???).....
To confirm my suspicions , I need a model # OR a pix of the meter turned on & on the ohms scale....
Thanks....
If you have a problem posting pix , just ask.....
It's easy once you get the hang of it.....

Nice going , so far.......

How do I post pictures?

I'll simplify this.....
1st , take a GOOD pix with your camera....
Upload it (them) to your computer....
Save it as a JPEG......
Save it to your desktop....
Give it a name so you can find it easily....
Go to
http://imageshack.us/ or

http://register.photobucket.com/step1

& sign up & join.... They are both FREE to join & use....
Upload your pix....
Select a proper sized pix or enlarge it....
Hover your mouse over the pix & right click.....
Select "copy"....
Come back here & paste your pix in your post....

I suggest you use imageshack as it is easier....

When posting a pix from imageshack.us do this;...
Select the pix you want to post from "My Images"....
Right click on the image you want to post....
A box with several choices will appear....
Choose "View Image"....
When that window opens , right click your mouse anywhere in the pix to
get "copy" up in another set of options...
Click on "copy"...
Come back to the box you are posting in , right click "paste" & Ta-Da , your pix shouild pop up full
sized & clear as it was taken...

Before you post the pix in the thread , go to the "Preview Post" button at the bottom center
where you are making your post & click on that one time....
Wait for it to load the post...
Scroll up & check your post & pix...
If the pix is too small or too big , go back to imageshack (or photobucket) & make
the needed adjustments....
If you need any further help or info , just post....

Also , remove the HOT from the set....
Use a solder-wick to unsolder it....
If you dont have it , get it as you will need it in the future....
The HOT has one small screw at the top center holding it to the heat
sink with a small nut & washer....
Use a pair of needle nosed pliers to grab & hold the nut....
Re-check it using ohms....
Put one lead on the center pin to either one of the outside pins...
Take reading.....
Also , take a reading from the center HOT pin connection on the chassis to ground....
Post info....

One thing you need to learn is to follow instructions.....

Remember this;=>.....

Quote
>>>> Before you post the pix in the thread , go to the "Preview Post" button at the bottom center
where you are making your post & click on that one time....<<<<
Wait for it to load the post...
Scroll up & check your post & pix...
>>>>If the pix is too small or too big , go back to imageshack (or photobucket) & make the needed adjustments....<<<<
>> If you need any further help or info , just post.... <<

Now check the thread & see how badly it looks thanks to your lack of knowing how to size or listen to what I said....
PLEASE go back & delete those pix....
They are useless...
TOO DAMM BIG !!!!

THANKS....

Before you upload your pix on imageshack , look for where it says "Upload Options/Resizing"....
Click on that & a little window will drop down that says "Do not resize"....
Use the arrow to get some other choices....
I suggest you try "320X240 (for websites & email) to start with....
Since different cameras upload differently , this will be a "trial & error" method till you get the size that works well with this site....
Remember to
"Preview Post" BEFORE you post it....

Good Luck.....Sly.....

NO !!!!....You might be , tho.....Wink....
Don't take that serious....

Quote

It's the "something else" that we have to find !!!!
I could & should have told you that up front....

Go back & do what I asked you to do....
Do NOT go jumping ahead or you can & probably will cause more damage & possibly convert your TV to a landfill resident....
Understood ???

Post meter pix....
You CAN do it...
Just experiment like I showed you....

What was the number on the ORIGINAL transistor ????
Should start with a "D" , have 4 numbers (Usually) & be on the face of it....
What was the reading I asked for on the transistor ???
What was the reading I asked for from the center pin to chassis
ground on the board ???

Okay i understand i just don't want to spend a lot of money on it. It's not that important maybe 30 tops.
Any way the number on the transistor is D1880 and then underneath that it reads 0b2

The reading from the transistors middle pin to ground is 007 ohms. The reading from the transistor middle pin to the left is 031 ohms, and from the middle to the right is 007 ohms.

okay hear is my multimeter

i just don't want to spend a lot of money on it.

IF you follow my instructions CAREFULLY & TO the letter , this repair should cost you LESS than $20~$25.....(I'm hoping for $10~$15)

The next pix I need is of the chassis near where the AC comes in....
This time make the pix 2 times larger....
Look for another heatsink with an IC that has about 5 pins....
It may say STRxxxxx on it....
You will need the solderwick now....
Remove the IC....
Post the number on it....
Go back to the HOT pin connections on the board & re-read from the center pin to chassis ground again...
Use the 20K scale....
Post reading....
Re-take the pix of the meter....
Make it 2 times also....
This time set the meter on ohms & NOT the diode setting....
I need to see the reading without anything being read....
Both the original D1880 & the one you used to replace it , ARE BAD !!!

You have 2 pix & 2 readings to post.....
Good Luck.....Sly....& THANKS.....
