Sharp 27N-S50 damaged by lightning strike Can't Post

I have a Sharp 27n-s50 that stopped working when my neighbor's house was struck by lightning. It even smelled burnt. I looked inside and found that IC701 (on a large metal heatsink) was burnt and had popped open. Is the TV junk or is there a chance replacing IC701 will bring it back?

I bet there's alot more than just that IC but you never know. If the set's over 5 years old, I'd just buy a new one. Sharp's aren't Sony's.

Guest, why don't you log in with a real name. You are obviously an experienced Tech... why the anonymity?
