Sharp Aquos LC-60LE832U No Backlight or Picture Can't Post

The TV I am working on recently was struck by lighting. I have replaced the Power LED driver Unit (RUNTKA798WJQZ), Main Unit (60LE830U DKEYMF733FM01) and LCD Control Unit (RUNTK4910TPZZ). Before these changes it wouldn't even come on, now the center LED blinks (one long and one short) indicating there is a Lamp Error. There is no backlight or picture. This tv has the softkeys, i pressed the volume - and channel up and then plugged it in, nothing happened other than the light continuing to blink.

I am at a loss on what to do next assuming anything can be done. Please help!

ALL boards that you replaced were NEW (never installed in a set) and came directly from the manufacturer or their authorized distributor with the full manufacturer's warranty?

OR

ALL boards that you replaced were 'new-to-you' and came from some place that pulled them from a broken screen set, but said something to the effect of: No worries, these have been tested and are 100% working?

The LED driver board came from quickshipelectronics.com and the power board came from www.aliexpress.com where it said new.

Well IF you're sure boards are OK, then:

When the parts in the panel can be replaced. > Replace all LED-bars in the panel module.
When the parts in the panel cannot be replaced. > Replace panel module.

That is what the service manual says however i was hoping someone here could tell me how to test with a scope or multimeter to know which part to go after next. I am not 100% sure these boards dont have and issue. I am taking the word of the sellers. I rather nit spend time shot gunning and swapping every part again randomly if i can. Thanks

Repairworld has some info for 'lamp error disregard mode' on other LC-xxLE8xxU series sets. May or may not apply to yours.

Researched LEDs they use in panel and operating life at normal room temp = only 1,000 hours.

I am so pissed right now. So i pulled the main board and decided, what the hell lets connect up the old one. The dispay comes right on but since this board was damaged by the lighting, there is no picture, just backlight. Then i turn over the one i bought and on the back it says "good need lamp error reset" now why the hell would they sell me one that needs a reset??? Anyway, any clue how i can reset it on this TV? I have tried multiple key combonations with no luck. Thinking of just sending it back and getting another.

Can set be turned Off and On? Try other main board. Clean and inspect FFC and LVDS connections on LCD Control unit. With no OSD, you can't tell which input is selected and with no active input connected, you can't tell if set has audio.

sorry, what does "Tcon is the one board not changed" Mean? I don't have another main board to swap out other than the one that was struck by lightning and when it's connected, there is no lamp error, LEDS come on too but still no dispay. I assume when you say OSD, this means On Screen Display. So you are saying for me to get any menus to show up on the screen I need to connect an audio/video source? Thanks

See, that's what happens when you're cooking simultaneously on all four burners. Something gets burnt. (Corrected last).

Did you try it After reset?

I'm saying You can't tell which input has been selected, or whether the Input is changing when you command it to.
Also, without any active inputs connected you will not know when you have 'No Video, Has Sound' as the 'No Signal' graphic can't be seen.

Ok so here are the steps i have taken. I powered up the unit, then pressed vol -, channel + and power to get it into the service mode. The center LED then goes solid and the back light comes on but that is it there is no picture, nothing, all black. I connected a laptop to the HDMI inputs and nothing, i also tried just the audio composit connections and nithing. I havent been able to reset the TV because there is no menu being shown.

Since i knew that that info was in the PMs I previously sent ... I didn't bother responding.

Glad to see that it's working.

Re: [jts1957] Sharp Aquos LC-60LE832U No Backlight or Picture [In reply to] Can't Post

In Summary, here is what I did to fix my issue. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future with their issue.
I first replaced the Power LED driver Unit (RUNTKA798WJQZ), Main Unit (60LE830U DKEYMF733FM01) and LCD Control Unit (RUNTK4910TPZZ). Before these changes the TV wouldn't come on. After these items where replaced the center LED blinked (one long and one short) indicating there was a Lamp Error. There was no backlight or picture.
To confirm the screen and LED’s were good, I put the TV into lamp error disregard mode by
holding Vol- and Ch+, press power. This is not always easy, it may take many tries. You will know you are successful when the icon is steady lit.

If the LEDs do not come on at this point then you need to disassemble panel because you have a bad LED.

In my case the LEDs lights came on however I still had no picture. I discovered that the replacement LCD Control Unit (also known as a TCON board) was bad, so I took a chance and put back the old unit. I then got picture.
After that all I needed to do was to get into adjustment mode to reset lamp error. I used key sequence mentioned in this YouTube video to enter the “K” menu.

After the reset, the TV powered up and worked normally Thanks

Re: [Seanfox] Sharp Aquos LC-60LE832U No Backlight or Picture [In reply to] Can't Post

ok i hope this helps out any one with a newer sharps (2011 to around 2013) a 1-1 blink is either a ps or led's (i broke down a lc-60le640 to find all the led's are good) to test the led's you have to break down the panel (which sucks and is a 2 man job) and take a 9v batt. and set the pos side on 1/left side of the led and go 3 over and put neg on 2/right side of the led and the leds should light up (can only do 3 at a time or you have to get like 20 9v to do all of them) also note if a panel is bad you will get a 2-5 blink if you get that disconnect the panel from the tcon and if back light comes up and no flashes its a panel

now to reset errors (straight from the service manual)

also you need the factory remote (one that came with the tv)

1) Before entering the adjustment process mode, the AV position RESET in the video adjustment menu.

2) While holding down the “VOL (–)” and “INPUT” keys at a time, plug in the AC cord of the main unit to turn on the power.
The letter “<K>” appears on the screen.

3) Next, hold down the “VOL (–)” and “CH ( )” keys at a time.
(The “VOL (–)” and “CH ( )” keys should be pressed and held until the display appears.)
Multiple lines of blue characters appearing on the display indicate that the unit is now in the adjustment process mode.
When you fail to enter the adjustment process mode (the display is the same as normal startup), retry the procedure.

4) To exit the adjustment process mode after the adjustment is done, unplug the AC cord from the outlet to make a forced shutdown. (When the
power was turned off with the remote controller, once unplug the AC cord and plug it again. In this case, wait 10 seconds or so before plugging.)
CAUTION: Use due care in handling the information described here lest your users should know how to enter the adjustment process mode. If the
settings are tampered in this mode, unrecoverable system damage may result.

also if you need the the service manual just email i have the service manual for the lc60le640u (which is a year newer but all the info applies) brodie29a@gmail.com

hope this helps anyone with problems
