Sharp SX-51F7 flickers & powers off ?

I was wondering whether anyone has come across this problem with a Sharp SX-51F7 TV?
Out of the blue the picture started to flicker ie. narrowing from the sides. The picture isn't lost while this is happening. After a few seconds the unit turns itself off. It doesn't just go back into stand-by mode but shuts down / turns off completely. You can turn it on again straight afterwards but goes through the same flickering & shutting down procedure.
