Signal injection. Can't Post

How does one test for voltage or inject a signal into a circuit using a variable power supply and where do you put the positive and the negative leads of the supply in the circuit.
For e.g. how could i use a variable power supply to supply my own" POWER ON" signal.

Pre-set variable supply for voltage you desire to inject (being able to monitor this helps, usually drops a little when connected to circuit), attach ground (black) to chassis ground and plus (red) to point voltage is desired.

Thanks Jts1957,
But..,what kind of safety measure would you have in place if the original signal, for what ever reason should find itself back into the circuit where you would have already injected the desired signal? Original signal +injected signal = you know!!

5 volts in parallel with 5 volts equals 5 volts.

5 volts in series with 5 volts equals 10 volts.

Jts1957,
Is it o.k. for me to understand that the method you shared with me about the injection of a signal in a circuit is automatically done in parallel ,thus, there is no fear of any damage as a result?

As long as you're NOT trying to inject into a shorted circuit.Wink
