Sony Bravia KDL-40V5100 dead - power surge Can't Post

Hi, I was hoping that someone here might have some tips to point me in the right direction. I like to repair stuff, so the other day I see a broken Sony KDL-40V5100 LCD TV on Craigslist that died a death by power surge according to the previous owners. I only paid $40 for it but I think I'm over my head on this one. The only thing that functions on the TV is the front green power LED and the relay that clicks when the TV is turned on. There are no blinks, and I haven't found any other buttons that influence the TV operation other than the power. I unfortunately only have a VOM but I have probed around on the power supply board and the connector voltages all seem to be accurate (12v, 15v etc.) I also haven't found any blown fuses and all the caps visually look good.
I'm kind of at a loss for what to troubleshoot next. I'm hopeful that it might just either be a part of the power supply board or the main board that is fried (nothing looks out of the ordinary), but I'm not sure what to check for to determine this. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could look for? Thanks!

This could be an open fuse on the Tcon board. There will be a very tiny surface mount 'nano fuse' on the tcon board (it's value will be printed on the board nearby) & it's something you can check with your meter. It will be very close to where the LVD cable connects to the Tcon (LVD cable will be leading from the signal board to the Tcon). ... The Tcon board is often at the top edge of the LCD panel & is usually behind a metal shield.... For you, or anyone reading this post, if you are unsure of which board is the Tcon or if you need any more help with this, please feel free to ask & I can explain in more detail. Ask through this forum or private message or email me directly (you can find my email address by clicking on my user name) I get a lot of emails per day helping people with there TVs & electronics so if you choose to email me, please provide me with as much detail as you can so I'll know what we're working with.

Thanks, Repair Man. I'll snoop around a little on the TCON board. I had pretty much ignored it to this point. What I did do was to buy a "new" main board, which was an "old" ebay special that had been removed from another dead TV. It wasn't guaranteed to be good so I was sort of rolling the dice. Anyway, I got it and the first thing I realized was that there seemed to be some "filaments" at one corner of the board that were sticking out. After I ripped those off I figured out that they were the PCB traces that had got pulled up when a little connector had been ripped off. I think when the main board was removed from the previous TV, the person just ripped the whole connector off. It was the one that seems to control the back light etc. From there, I just soldered blue wires to the main board and connected them to the jumper to the power supply.
Needless to say it didn't work. BUT, what did work was that the TV now goes in and out of standby whereas before only the green LED would be on. Now it automatically goes to standby (red LED) after a time and it will come out once the power button is pushed or the remote key is pressed. I'm pretty sure the remote didn't work with the original main board. So even though my "new" main board is probably trashed, it seems to work better than the old board. But the lack of any sort of picture/screen makes me suspect the TCON might be fried too. Frankly, at this point I'm more inclined to try to sell it for the screen, assuming that's good. Know anyone that wants a 40" Bravia LCD screen?! :)

Still check out that fuse on the Tcon if you get a min. I had a look at a Tcon from that set & the fuse is actually at the opposite end of where the LVD cable connects & it's white & labelled F1 & is just in a bit from a white 4 conductor plug.
