Sony Bravia kdl-32R330B More info post Can't Post

I made a post a couple of days ago and realized it not have had enough info.
This is what's happening, when i turn on the TV the Sony logo appears for about on second. After the logo disappears if i shine a bright light on the screen i can faintly see the picture. I've tried shining a light on the screen, and navigating the menus. I've even done a factory reset but the problem persists. i finally took the back panel of the TV off looked for blown capacitors on the power supply board but i have found none. i then found the power connector for the main board, and the legend corresponding to it for the main board.
Here's the back of the tv with the panel off

here's the power connector with the legend for the main board http://imgur.com/gallery/uNn15h6/new

I then tested the top three pins that say they should have 16 volts and i got 15.83 on all three which i assume is normal.
As a little more detail when i turn the TV on i can hear a faint high pitch sound which i think is coming from the power supply board but when the picture disappears the sound goes away.

I'm not sure where to go from here.

Most likely one (or more) panel LEDs have burnt out. Since you can see the menus, see where the LED back light are set. Some sets allow LEDs to fire with PS to main board connector disconnected. You'll need to carefully disassembly panel to observe ALL LEDs simultaneously.

Most times sets come out of box with back lights set at 100% and owners leave them there, shortening the life of the LEDs.

Thanks for the answer. When you say disassemble the panel to view the LEDs do you mean take the panel on the front of the TV off? i know if i do it that way there will be multiple layers to disassemble. Would i just disassemble each layer until I get to the LEDs?

Unless panel manufacturer has left a channel to slide edge-lit LEDs out of ...

(I'm presuming that when you can faintly see a picture with a bright light, that you can also hear the sound that matches the picture.)

Thanks for the answer again! I finally got around to taking it apart. Here's the panel of LED's http://imgur.com/gallery/strj4SO/new

I cant tell if any of them are burnt out. I was wondering if you have any ideas on how to test them. The only LED i could find that looks a little weird is this one http://imgur.com/gallery/8J3DYVh/new

Remember the LED is in center - there is a lens covering it that's mounted in three places.

Two 1.5v batteries connected in series - the other two battery terminals are your 'test leads.' Connect test leads (observing correct polarity for LED) and should be able to light EACH LED one at a time - IF good..

Thanks for all your help! I found the bad LED's using your method. Here they are http://imgur.com/gallery/eS4iMlW/new
They won't light up when i connect the batteries.

So I guess from here i'll see if i can find some new light strips to order online to replace them with. Here's the model number for the light strips: evertop lbm320p0701-fc-2 and here's an extra one this sticker has some QR code sticker with it, and this number: 007-0540625 0280[0094 66N7P40FAC8CF

Would you have any idea where to get new light strips from? i looked on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/SONY-LED-STRIP-LBM320P0701-FC-2-TPT315-KDL32R330B-/291468686265?hash=item43dce333b9:g:8skAAOSwZd1VWhc2

But $18 plus shipping per strip is a little expensive plus they are only selling one strip.

Thanks again for all your help i really appreciate it!

Who says ALL bulbs on their strip are good? (I've heard rumors that some sellers 'Lie!') Can individual bulbs be replaced? ($26/7=$3.70 each - doesn't seem too bad to me). Also bear in mind that all bulbs are 'Used' and will only have so much life left, especially IF somebody doesn't reduce back light control settings.

Yeah i would really rather not order from a seller that wont accept returns. Especially since that one is used, who knows how much life it has left.

i'm not sure about replacing the bulbs the lense doesn't come off very easily, and i haven't looked at the back of the LED strips so i don't know if it is easy to unsolder them or not. I would think it would be hard to solder since the the strips lay on that metal casing meaning that there probably aren't any solder points on the back since that would short them out. So the LED's are probably embedded into the strip somehow.

I was thinking since i don't have many options left. maybe i'll try adding my own LED's. Sorta making my own LED strips that i would then run off a different power supply. I even found the lense the strips use http://www.aliexpress.com/cheap/cheap-led-lens-tv.html
I'm not sure what LED's that lense uses though. I don't know though this is basically a fun project to see if i can get it to sort of work.

Again Thanks for all the help! I Learned a lot about TV's and how they work from this. Thanks!

http://www.tvparcasi.com/...philips-32pfk430912# the center and right-hand smaller pictures under main.
LEDs surface mount to the front of the board by solder. Lens then is installed over LED with three pegs/mounts at 3pm, 7pm & 11pm that are softened (melted) and pressed from BACK of board. The strips come off panel, so metal is of little concern.

You either want ALL old or ALL new LEDs. Not mix & match. As long as 21 NEW LEDs meet your budget. 3.6V high current/high brightness, not sure what 'light temperature.'

I doubt that you will find any 'NEW.' Sony (or any manufacturer, for that matter) cares about the funds they make on the initial purchase and if any consideration for replacement is/was considered, it is panel replacement.

The set looks so good with back light controls at maximum. Even at that setting, the TV should make it through base warranty. So what if at those settings the life of many parts (including back light LEDs are shortened. SAME thing WILL occur AGAIN if controls are NOT reduced.
