Sony KDL-32L5000 Screen is Clear on Top Blurry on the Bottom Can't Post

Hi everyone, I'm new here and hoping you can help me.

I have a Sony KDL-32L5000. I turn it on today and the bottom 2/3s of the screen is blurry and the top 1/3 is perfect. It does the same on the menu. You can see what it looks like here:

I'm capable of replacing any component (11 years as a laser printer tech) and it looks like most are fairly cheap on eBay. I just can't seem to figure out what has gone bad.

I really appreciate any help. It's depressing when something is out of warranty by only a few months.

Simple, your LCD is shot. This requires a new panel. The Bravia series i tell yah, they are just bad for panels.

You can try this though. It requires a complete strip down of the TV body though

However this fix is for ghosting but it might work.

Darn, I was hoping it was anything else than that. I've never heard of it being economical to replace a screen. I'll definitely be getting the extended warranty next time.

Crazy Not necessarly your panel. I have fixed many of these by changing the t-con board. But there is a chance it is your panel.

Thanks for the info. Any guess on the likelihood that it is the t con board? They are about $40 eBay. Considering a comparable new replacement tv is only about $300 I'm just trying to weigh the options.

Crazy Looking at your picture, I would now have to agree with Ryan on this one. Follow the video link he gave you, and you should be able to fix the set without any parts. Good luck to you.
