Hi Ron,

My CN5019 connector has just 3 pins. I checked 1 & 3, but still don't read anything.

Also I just want to check with you, here's where I have my probe clipped to. This ok?

Near CN5019 Pin #1 on your board is printed +135....
What is on the board near Pin #3 ???

My CN5019 on the schematic has 7 pins...
Please look on the label where you got the model number & see if
there's a chassis number there...
It should begin with SCC-xxxx
Your ground probe looks just fine where you have it ....

I have doubts your meter is working on DC or AC volts....
Find a way to check the AC & DC parts of your meter....
Go to where the AC cord comes into the set & VERY CAREFULLY check for 110 vac....
Hook up your gator lead with the set UNPLUGGED...

I checked my meters AC with the wall outlet, I got a 118 reading.

Heres a pic of my meter & probes. ..i know, not exactly top of the line! Blush

It doesn't matter whether the meter is "top of the line" or not...
What matters is whether or not it works & it's accuracy....

Can you find a way to check the DC volts to see if that part is working ???

Any battery should suffice (just NOT the one(s) IN the meter). Wink

I checked DC on my phone and camera batteries, they both read.

I also borrowed a meter (Fluke T5-600), and went through the steps again but I'm not reading anything different.

I am begining to suspect a couple of parts , but , I want to
be certain before I reccommend you get them....
So we have to check further....
The 1st pix shows you where board "G2" is at...
You may have a problem getting at it because board "AD" may be too close & in the way....

In the pix below we need to get at connector CN6900 on the
"G2" board...
It will be in the lower right corner on the board pix I have...
In the set ????...You need to see....
The 3 connectors across the top may be the connectors that
the board ("G2") plugs onto the "A" board & CN6900 may be
at the top....
Those 3 connectors have low volts & IF you can safely read them , it may help....
The volts are printed on the board by the pins....
CN6900 should have about +135 vdc or more....
So set your meter accordingly....

Hi Ron,

I got 86vdc on CN6900.

As for the other connectors, only CN6902 is used, pins 1-5.

Pin #1 9v, read 8.8v
Pin #2 9v, read 8.8v
Pin #3 5v, read 4.8v
Pin #4 GND
Pin #5 GND

I've made a stupid error of ommission.... Crazy

.....

When you read the volts on CN6900 , you need to have the positive
lead of your meter on pin #1 & the negative (ground) lead to pin #2...
The reason is that it's a different ground...
The tuner ground you used earlier is called "Chassis" ground...
This is called "Hot" ground & is connected to one side of the AC line coming in...
So use CARE when messing with that pin...
Hook up the meter with the TV unplugged...
Then plug it in , turn the TV on & watch the meter...
See if the meter pulses or gives you a steady reading....
Thanks for the volts from CN6902...
May prove helpful....

Back to the "D" board....To the left side of the flyback (The transformer that has a thick red wire coming out of the top located toward the front center of the board) there are 2 18 pin ICs....
One is IC8002 & the other is IC6400....
They are right next to each other....
PLEASE take a fairly close-up pix with both ICs in it & post it....
Take a larger pix of the same area....

Can you tell me what this is on the lower IC ????

Is that a mark on the top of the IC or is a chunk of the IC missing ????
That IC should look exactly look the other one...
In other words , flat across the top from end to end...
My eyes may be playing a trick on me , but , that looks like a dent in the IC....
Also what is the IC number , IC6400 or IC8002 ???

That is IC8002. The IC is whole, the white is just something on it. I was able to scrape whatever it was off.

We need to CAREFULLY read the volts on the following pins;=>....
#8 , #12 & #16...
Pin #1 , 9 , 10 & 18 are marked on the board...
From BOTH IC6400 & IC8002...
You should be able to get those from the top of the board...
Use CARE so you don't short out two pins accidentally with your probe tip....
Use chassis ground (Post #26)

Are all those readings negative volts ????

Go to connector CN6401 on the "D" board....
It will be next to IC6400....
Put the negative probe in pin #2 & the positive probe in pin #1....
Should read about 17 vdc....

Leave the probe in pin #2 & re-read the volts on pins 8 , 12 , & 16 of both IC6400 & IC8002........

Hi Ron,

I checked CN6401, but got no reading.
So I followed the cable to check the other end, this is what i found at G2 board...

I set the connection right and the tv turned on, pic and sound!

Apparently the person who had it before, tried to fix it before they left it (in our back alley).
If only I'd checked all the connections better, it would've saved us a lot of time!

So the tv turns on with pic and sound, the problem now is the colors don't align.

So try to converge it "Flash Focus" or manually. (Pages 42-44 in user manual.)

It appears your picture tube has a problem. Still have the warranty of your unit? Check its manufacturing date before you have it repaired to be sure the TV repair company would install parts that are apt to your TV's model. Just acquired plasma TV repair Wentzville as I encountered a similar problem. The info I told you is the exact thing they asked me.

When i turn it on, the LED flashes 10 times and will just repeat the flashing till i press the power again. Then it will come on and work normal. It's just a little process to turn it on now.

Try this;....

Granted that this set has been working for awhile without any repairs from me or you....
It's possible that since the set comes on OK & works OK that it may be a mistake in the code...
So reset it as explained below...
Do NOT DO ANYTHING else when in the service mode or you can screw up the TV PERMANENTLY...

IMPORTANT: After you repair the unit, you MUST clear the values on this diagnostic screen. These codes do not reset themselves after the fault is corrected, so if you don't clear them, you'll be seeing "old" fault codes the next time you enter this screen. Clearing is done by going into the service mode (display, channel, 5, volume plus, then power ). (EDIT Ron.M >> ...Pause for a couple of secs here , then proceed) Press 8 and Enter, which returns everything to the factory preset condition.

The turn the TV of with the power button ON the set , NOT the remote....

Let me know if this worked .....
