Sony KV-32V36 Dead Can't Post

Hi,

My KV-32V36 shut itself off yesterday and shows no signs of life. I was watching it and it shut down just as if I hit the power switch. No weird sounds, smoke or anything else our of the ordinary. I tried unplugging it for a few hours and trying again, but still nothing.

It's 7 years old and I'm wondering if it's worth any attempts to fix it.

Thanks,

pw455

Given the symptoms described, you probably have a problem in the standby power supply (probably a blown fuse and whatever shorted causing it to blow). In this case, the replacement costs would probably be significantly higher than the repair costs so in that respect, it would be worth the repairs. HOWEVER! Depending upon useage, 7 years seems to be right on the cusp of the useful life of Trinitron tubes so it is something to be considered. Personally, I would go for the repairs.

Thanks Mel. I have somebody coming in to give me an estimate on the repair.
