Sony KV13M52 bad sound

I have a Sony KV13M52 with very little sound. If I turn up the volume all the way you can barely hear it. I also tried hooking up the rca jacks to a dvd player to see if it just wasn't decoding the sound from the cable box and had no change in operation. I originally thought that the speaker might be the culprit so I replaced it and had no change in operation. I haven't been able to find a schematic for this tv. Will it be easier to replace the mainboard or to locate the problem and fix it? Any advice would be appreciated.
