Sony KV27XBR10 Dead Can't Post

Hi,

The Sony KV27XBR10 set is dead - no power or sound, or even a sleep/timer LED on. The relay clicks when power button on the TV set was pressed, but no picture or sound or any light comes on. The power board was checked out (off the set) with power connected to the board (bypass relay), the 22V to an "AF" (audio amplifier)board connector, 11V and 18V to main board(biggest board) connector were checked, and they were okay. When the power board was installed back to the set, with all 5 or 6 cables connected to it, still no picture or sound comes on! In fact, it appears that something may inhibit or disable the power board from turn on due to the fact that the switching regulator (IC651) was still cold. As the cables were being disconnected from the power board one by one, the IC651 started to warm up, but still no picture or sound. Please give your advice. Thanks.

Re: [vincent Wen] Sony KV27XBR10 Dead [In reply to] Can't Post

You can go to www.samswebsite.com and download Efact 2796-2 for $20. It will give you the the schematic on the entire set as well as a troubleshhooting guide. I suspect that your problem is in the high voltage section loading down the power supply. Check for a shorted horizontal output transistor. You might also want to check out www.FreeFlatScreens.com/?r=10848674 for an opportunity to earn a free replacement for this set with alittle effort on your part.
