5 Flashes on a XBR means one of several things, the simolest is the screen control is turned up to high blanking the video and stoping the set, next the video drive Ic on the crt board has failed, A Ic we call the Jungle has failed, or the real bad thing, The CRT itself is shot. Any way you look at it this would not be somthing for the shade tree tv tech to tackel. It would take some knowlage and test equipment to Trouble shoot this one
