Switching from air to cable Can't Post

Bought a Sharp Linytron 25" tv from someone on Craigslist for $20. Works great but has no remote.
When the tv starts up it shows reception with "air" antenna. Not cable.
There seems to be no way to change this without buying a universal remote. Is this my only option?
I seem to get about 30 channels when I should be getting around 80.
I currently have cable tv but this tv just has a cable line running to it and not a box.
And I cant get any more specific about the tv model. Nowhere on the tv does it show a model number.

I have no idea, but there is only one connection for cable on the back. No other connections for audio or video are available.

Are there any small switches on the back near where the coax cable connects; if so it might be labeled Cable/Air?

Is the anyway to go into a menu and 'Auto-program' if so this may lock in as cable when it's finished.

No switch in the back at all. One place for a picture adjustment but i`d need to use a screwdriver for this.
Only buttons up front are...
Power
Volume up/down
Channel Up/down

If I knew how to get to the menu thru the tv, I wouldnt be here asking this question.

Some TVs' I seen you had to Press Channel up and Channel down at same time. (Access to menu screen)
Use Volume up and Volume down to switch between menu options.Wink

Hope this helps

Set maybe a little warm?Angelic

Most sets use buttons on remote and/or have to go through menu to adjust.

Guess I will need to buy a universal remote. I tried holding the channel up/down together with no response.

Unless the set was stolen and the sticker was peeled off. Or with the quality of the adhesives...Smile

Re: [shadetree] Switching from air to cable [In reply to] Can't Post

There is no sticker on the back of this tv.
I am quite embarresed and hope this tv is not stolen. I have never participated in buying stolen merchendice, ever. I asked the man if the tv worked well, which he stated in his Craigslist post that it did. I did not question the sale anymore after that point.
Hoping maybe the adhesive may have went bad.
Anyway, a buddy of mine has a universal remote I will try to access the menu with in a day or two from now.

lot of the time the stickers gone because the seller doesn't want the buyer to know how old the set really is
