TV Clicks But Doesnt Turn On Can't Post

Okay, so I have a RCA P46732BA Projection TV. It worked fine until last week when it wouldn't turn on and all I would hear was a repeating clicking sound. I opened it up and found that the connection of a diode on the main board was sparking. I replaced the diode, but in doing so removed the HV Splitter wire from the hv block. The diode replacement resolved the sparking issue and I put the hv splitter back into the block and I put the hv splitter back into the block but the television now either repeatedly clicks. My question is whether or not my hv splitter is bad? Something to note is that when I disconnect the hv splitter wire from the block and insulate it to prevent an arc, the sound works fine on the TV.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

sounds like bad splitter unless you didn't get wire in far enough which isn't likely

Is there a way to check if my HV Splitter is broken? I am not sure if i have the wire connected properly.

So would this mean I need a new HV Splitter or a new HW Block? I could only find HV Blocks on ebay.

Sorry about asking the same question again, but I just want to be sure that this is the part I should purchase. Here is the ebay item http://cgi.ebay.com/...&ssPageName=WD1V . It is a HV Block. I was under the impression that the HV Splitter is broken. Will purchasing this part and replacing it fix the television?

Thanks

Re: [shadetree] TV Clicks But Doesnt Turn On [In reply to] Can't Post

Okay, I got the part and installed it. Now the TV clicks repeatedly, and if I change the channel, I can see the channel number flickering in the top right corner of the screen. This is good progress. Does anybody have any ideas as to what I still have wrong? I am not too sure of how well I installed the wires into the HV block. I just jammed them into the block as far as I could.

Thanks for the help.

Hey guys. I got it working. The problem was the HV Splitter wire which had to be pushed in a little more. Thanks for all of the help. I appreciate it.
