Tohiba 55H95 Cinema Series Red Convergence Problem - Intermittent Can't Post

The red component of the image will squeeze toward the center (vertically) on the left side of the screen and expand on the right side as much as 3-4". The blue and green are unaffected.

Once in this failure mode, if I turn the set off and on quickly, the problem will continue. If I turn it off and wait 10-15 seconds, most of the time it will go back to normal when powered on again. On occasion, if I wait long enough, it will snap back into place on its own.

I am thinking that it may be some component failure in the red vertical deflection circuit but at this point I have no schematics for reference.

For about the last year, this set has been exhibiting the problem to varying degrees. It seems to be getting worse lately. It does not seem to be thermal because somethimes it will do it immediately upon turn on and other times it may run for hours before doing it.

I've repaired a good number of TVs before but this is my first rear projection set and I have not seen a similar problem previously. I am just beginning the troubleshooting process. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, David
