Toshiba 27A43 Problem - Only 6 months old

My 2 year old daugher was watching "her" 27" Toshiba TV today and said told me that the screen disappeared. I assumed she had just pushed the power button and turned it off. Not so lucky! The power button would not turn on the TV and neither would the remote. So, next I checked the power outlets near the TV and none of them made any difference. The TV would not come on. I then unhooked all the cables from the back and took the TV off the entertainment center and tried powering it in another room. The power came on. I thought that maybe it was just a freak thing. Unfortunately, it was not.
I then put the TV back and hooked all the cables back up. The TV came on but now has 2 inches of black on each side of the TV from top to bottom. Plus, the picture is horrible now and the screen is now flickering. Also, I can see a solid line running from top to bottom near the left of the screen that is pink and purple.
It does not sound good for a 6 month old TV that is out of warranty (labor).
If anyone has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
