Toshiba 28W27B Zoomed in and distorted Can't Post

Hi all,

I have a Toshiba Widescreen televison model number 28W27B and last night it decided to start playing up. The picture seems to have zoomed in so that about 1/3 of the picture is now cut off. This is the same on all the settings 4/3, 16/9, Cine, etc. I am sure that if the picture edge could be seen in is concave all the way around

Is there anything that I can do about this. Also does anybody know how I can get into the technical settings. I have tried:

Press mute on remote, then press again and hold then press menu on TV. All I get this way is the normal menu which doesn't allow me to change the picture width or hight.

I have also tried Vol down on set and press 9 on remote control. Again this does nothing.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Leon

It doesn't sound like something that you can fix yourself nor a tech could diagnose sight unseen. Support your local economy and visit a reputable TV repair shop in your area (Yes there are still some around).

Thanks Mel, I support my local economy as much as I can but would be a bit pissed off if there was a reset option of any kind in the tech settings that I could do myself and paid for a repair guy to come out and charge me for. Call me synical but when I comes to 'specialist', whether that be a plumber, car machanic or TV repair man I would like to know what I am talking about before they visit. Also I thought that is what newsgroups and forums were all about. Learning for your self!

So, does anybody know what the problem MIGHT be, is there anything that I could try myself. The set is only 2 years old at the most. All the straight lines on the edge of the screen are bowed yet the rest of the picture although zoomed in is still watchable.

Thanks again.
