Toshiba 28Z53B Geometry Problems Can't Post

Hi folks,
I'm looking for some help on a TV I've just bought, it was only very cheep £30 but it'll frustrate the hell out of me if I can't fix it.

The TV is a TOSHIBA 28Z53B and I'm let to belive it's couple of years old and I bought the TV understanding it was in perfect working order - only replaced due to Plasma upgrade.

As soon as I got the set home I plugged it into my Sky + box and fired it up, it all seemed ok at first glance until I changed Sky Channel and the Sky OSD revealed the geometry of the screen was totally screwed.

I can't decide if the all 4 courners of the screen have been stretched sideways or if the side's are being pulled inwards, either way it is totally unacceptable and I cold do with any suggestions on how I may fix the problem.

Could this have happened during transport? I did carry the set on it's side up a flight of stairs (bumping around a bit).
I had a look round the net last night and found out how to access the SERVICE MENU but after having an unsuccesful play around with something I know nothing about I thought best to leave it alone.

Any advice would be superb,
Thanks in Advance
Matt

from memory this is a Vestel chassis from Turkey which Tosh imported on the cheap. If it is ,then the eeprom memory chip is croaked and needs replacing.not a job for an amateur unless you are good at soldering surface mount chips.

if the picture is bowing , the risistors and capacitors that control that part might be blown, check all of the electronic boards for black marks or what looks burnt, i had a 1990 ge tv wit the same problem and i found out it was two risisters and a capacitor
as the old saying says, paitence is a virtue
