Hi,
I have a Toshiba TP50G90, about 6 years old.3 years ago, after it had problems starting up, they replaced a power regulator IC, 2 convergence IC's and a capacitor. Now, when you power up,it switches off instantly after you power on, and the power light goes into a slow blinking mode. The repair guy came out and said that is a code for a power supply problem, and quoted $400 to $450 for repair.After opening the back and jiggling the circuit board at the power input, I was able to watch TV all evening, and today, even after the TV was off overnight. However, after turning it off again, it reverted to the same problem.I got it to work again, but then it shut off as I changed channels. Now it won't turn on.
Does this sound like a simple problem that should cost less than quoted. I think at that price, it may be time to upgrade to a HDTV set.
