Hello I was watching my Toshiba Regza Model number 42XV540U The other day and all of a sudden the whole screen went out. The amber front light was on and so was the green power one but clearly the screen was entirely off, I had to remove the power cable in order for it to actually turn off. When I plugged it back in the amber light blinks 3 times, pauses, then repeats that cycle. One time it went back to solid amber solid green but the screen of course still showed no signs of power. I was reading about this and I read something about a firmware update fixing this so I went through that process to no avail.I opened it up and saw no signs of a blown capacitor on either of the 2 available for view boards, I have not unscrewed anymore to look at what look like the 2 other boards. I do not have a multimeter. any information on what this problem may be is appreciated. Images in link should be large enough to zoom in to see better.

Had a power failure before i could type anything.
Anyway- When the screen failed was there any kind of a noise, like a pop or squeal, noise on speakers?
Do you have no picture with sound or no picture/sound?
Hold a flashlight to screen at an angle and see if you can see a faint picture or any movement.
The front power light- is there a blinking sequence or is it on steady?

There was no noise just screen clicked off, there is no picture nor sound. that blinking sequence normally goes three times then a green light goes on right by it and the screen turns on in this case it is a infinite loop.

It seems you have a problem with power board that is not feeding right voltage to main board. You will have to do a voltage test on power board to main board. Also recheck the caps on power board, check fuses.You can probably get a schematic from ElektroTanya 3 blinks is usally lack of 3.3 volts to main board.

I currently do not have a multimeter, but I am also not to smart regarding these internal things to a degree. I just added 2 images to the imgur gallery of 2 fuses the first one (The F820) the filament? seems to be lopsided the other one seems quite straight looks like there is a bit of marker on it as well, should that first one be hanging like that or could that be a problem?. I was looking on ebay and they mentioned that is one of the problematic fuses.

sorry they where a bit dusty.

I just got rid of my 52xv540u which is similar to yours. It use to do some strange things at times (scrambled pic or pic and no sound, Sounds no pic) but seemed to always be able to fix by holding the power button for 5-10 second to reset the tv. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try. You should hear the relays click after holding it then you can let go.

It's the main board or the power board. Your not going to know unless you do a power test with multimeter off of power board to main board with a schematic of power supply needed. If your not up to it you need a tech to do it.
