Tube vent black with a kind of bang! Sony 32FX65 Can't Post

Hi

I have a problem with my 3 years old Sony KV-32FX65. Yesterday while watching a DVD it suddenly vent black with a kind of bang! There were no smoke or smell.

There is still sound for 5 sec. then nothing for about 20 sec. then sound for 5 and so on.

The power-led(red light) blinks when the sound is off.

Does someone have an idea if it's the tube or if it's something else worth fixing.

The bang that you heard was probably a high voltage arc which may or may not have been internal to the picture tube. My guess is that with a set that new, it was probably external. Post the number of blinks back because this is diagnostic tool and can help pinpoint where the problem may lay.

The four blimks indicates a lose of vertical deflection and video signal muted indicating a failure of the video IC or an associated component. I don't have a schematic for that particular model but my notes on Sony say check IC1509 and Q1505.

Without the proper test equipment, you can't. Time to call in the professionals. You might also mwant to check out www.FreeFlatScreens.com/default.aspx?referer=7509165 for an opportunity to earn a free replacement for this set with a little effort on your part.
