Tuner works some time

I have an old Sears consol TV about 13 years old. I use rabbit ears for reception. The tuner is now disconnecting about 5 minutes after firing up on the channels from 02 to 14. I can get the higher channels but nothing below 15. When the TV first comes on the tuner works OK for about 5 minutes then disconnects. It seems to be getting worse, because sometimes it would reconnect but now it will not work until the next morning after the set cools down.
