VDR Philips 4822 116 20063 Can't Post

Hi, I'm new in this forum, so please be patients... I need to change (or replace) a VDR (Voltage Dependent Resistor) Philips 4822 116 20063. The component is no more in the Philips catalogue and I'm searching for the electrical characteristics but without results. Somebody can help me?
Thank you so much.

Re: [Ron.M] VDR Philips 4822 116 20063 [In reply to] Can't Post

Ron.M.....

Two things I reply...

1)...I kindly ask you why I "must" go and delate the other post. In my intention I just wanted to give some more info related to the problem. If there is something incorrect or impolite (maybe, as I said I'm new in this Forum...) I think better that you tell me about instead of an imperative...go & delate...from which I can't learn nothing.

2)...Me too, first of all, I tried to get info using that P/N...NO luck, as you say...that's why I asked for help in this forum.

In my specific case, the VDR is mounted on an Oscilloscope Philips type PM 3226, NC 9452 032 26101, N° LO-10 12292, (chassis data).
The component is used in the X-Final Amplifier, Y-Output Amplifier and in the Blanking Stage.

I appreciate your interest in my problem and any help or info that you could give me.

...absolutely without rancor and with gratitude...

fedychan;.....

Let's clear up a couple of things.....

1a)...In case you hadn't noticed , I said;..""Two things I request...""""
A "request" does NOT mean you "must" go & delete the other post...
It IS ASKING you to do so...
I should have said; "Please go & delete the other post"...
I apologize for omitting the word "please"....
1b)...In the top right corner of your posts it says;..."Edit Delete Quote & Reply...
One thing that irks techs here (at least the ones I talk to)(myself included) is duplicate threads for the SAME problem...
IF you need to add more info , you can do that in one of 2 ways...
In the SAME thread create & post another reply...
OR use the EDIT feature & add the new info to the post you choose to...
This is called "Forum Decorum"....
This is a courtesy to those of us that have to sort out the real people from all the spammers/scammers that post their garbage here...

1c)...This part bothers me because as I said earlier ,""Two things I request...""""...Nothing was demanded... Also indicates a lack of understanding the English language...NO OFFENSE INTENDED !!!!

This post in another thread will NOT get ANY replies due to the fact it relates to absolutely nothing !!!!

VDR Philips 4822 116 20063 was commonly used on old TV and Oscilloscope Philips (years 1970-1980)

That info should have been added as I suggested...
Info that was missing is that the VDR is used in an Oscilloscope & NOT a TV...
This is after all a TV Repair forum etc...
I didn't see ANY electronic test equipment repair threads...

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help....Unsure.....

GOOD LUCK...Sly....

You can go to elektrotanya.com and download the service manual for this model. It might give you the info that you need.

mel;....

Just out of curiosity , mel , where do you think he got this from;=>..."4822 116 20063"....Wink.....
I'm betting it says "VDR" & nothing else in his manual....

Ron
I haven't any idea. I just found the SM listed for this model and didn't pursue it any further.

Thank you Mel for the information; I already have that manual but unfortunately the component is indicated just as VDR, with the Philips P/N 4822 116 20063 without relevant electrical characteristics. However thank you for your good intention.

Re: [fedychan] VDR Philips 4822 116 20063 [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi, This is part you are looking for is indeed a VDR which is all the manual says. If you search the internet for philips component colour codes you will eventually find it is an "asymetric VDR" with a reference of 1.35V at 1mA Red top = 1.35V @1mA Black = 10% and the white spot on the brown body = cathode. Where mine failed on the vertical o/p stage (trace would not move up enougth) it was caused by this device, there are two in the vertical and two in the horizontal o/p stages. Fix was to put two diodes in series accross the faulty component (observe the white spot side = cathode k) To see which one of the two devices are faulty measure the volts accross them with the trace fully up for one or fully down for the other (same side to side if it is an horizontal scan problem) The volage should not go above 1.5V on mine it excedded this, leave the origional device in and fit the two series diodes accross faulty device and all should now work! Normal voltage accross this device is 0.3 to 1.4 volts. Wish you luck, work perfectly with my PM3226
