Vertical lines on Toshiba 32AF43

I purchased a 32" Toshiba model 32AF43 at Sears in November 2003. It worked fine until three weeks ago when vertical lines developed through the center of the screen. There are basically three lines each about three inches wide. The lines appears in all modes of operation including service and test signal modes. Also, there are ghost images displaced 15 inches horizontally.
Unfortunately the TV is out of warranty except if the problem is caused by the picture tube, it has a warranty of two years. At this point I just want to get some ideas how I through test in service mode or otherwise may be able to pinpoint the problem.
Any suggestions will be appreciated,
