Vizio SV370XVT lines/bars flickering at top display (pictures) Can't Post

Hi All,

I searched the forums and found nothing similar to my problem.

I have a two year old 37" Vizio SV370XVT LCD TV.

I just recently started seeing a series of horizontal lines/bars flickering at the top of my screen. This occurs only if the TV has been off for about 12 hours, and the lines slowly disappear after about twenty minutes of the TV being on. I posted a link below with pictures illustrating my problem.

I'm quite sure the problem is the TV itself, as this problem occurs on all of my three components connected to the TV, which are all connected to different HDMI ports.

I did a system reset via the menu, as well as unplugging the TV from the outlet, and pressing the power button down for 30 seconds. Nothing resolved the problem.

My TV is out of warranty, so I was wondering if this is a job that could be done by myself, and what part I might need to replace.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

This is broadcast data which is usually hidden along the top of the scan. It can be corrected by either moving the picture up on the screen on increasing the horizontal heigth. Unfortunately, either of these options requires getting into the service menu which should only be done by an experienced tech.

Thanks for your reply Mel.

Are you quite certain the lines are broadcast data? I'm a bit skeptical, since this is a problem that only occurs if the TV is off for more than 12 hours, and once the TV has been turned on, the lines slowly disappear, and the picture returns to normal.

The original pictures I posted showed the TV after its been on for about 10 minutes. When the TV is first turned on, the screen is completely filled with lines, which slowly become less as the TV stays on. I posted a new picture below showing how the screen looks the moment its been turned on, after being off for more than 12 hours.

Sorry about that. I gave you a generic reply without seeing the pictures first posted. Based upon the latest picture, you are correct in questioning my reply. Unfortunately, Vizio service manuals are seriously lacking in detailed info and I can't find any help in addressing your problem.
