WD-62725 Issue Can't Post

I have an issues with this TV. And at the moment buying a new TV is not an option only repair.

I have included some images of the screen on. As you can see there are static lines that scroll the screen.

Also I have not changed out any CAPS

How does it look with video running on the screen? Run a dvd or any video, then see what it looks like.

I guess the first thing to check would be the caps in the power supply, DM, and FMT. I've never seen them create that exact fault, but they have caused rolling lines.

I do well with soldering so where do you guys suggest I get these Caps?

I have seen this kit, would this be fine or would I get cheaper some place else?

Thank you for your help!

ADIDAS;....

I need to butt in here before you go off & make a costly mistake....

That kit appears to be a fix for a different problem & does not match the symptoms your set has...

There are 35 caps in that kit...
They tell you which ones they are in the TV , their locations etc....
You CAN buy them cheaper , but , you will NOT get the info as to which ones to change or where they are at etc...
Besides , there's NO indication that they would do ANY good for your problem...

Re: [Ron.M] WD-62725 Issue [In reply to] Can't Post

One thing they don't normally mention in those kits. Common rolling line through picture, usually from bottom to top caused by the FMT board. The people that put those kits together "usually" are not Mitsubishi authorized repair centers. Meaning they don't have access to all the information out.

As Ron says, don't buy something unless you know it is the problem. That is just throwing parts at a TV, and more often than not, just costs you money needlessly. The offending caps can be identified visually,,,,the tops bulge similar to the Samsung power supply capacitors. Remove the covers, and look at the FMT (its the board the DVI cable connects to). You will see 4 1000uf 16v capacitors that have probably failed.

I can easily replace those. I just need to know where to get the Caps. and is there a better brand than others?

Thank you

Re: [ADIDAS] WD-62725 Issue [In reply to] Can't Post

Are they bad?????

That is the first thing to find out,,,not where to get parts that you may or may not need.

The pictures you posted are not the normal thing to see on a V26 chassis. We are still in troubleshooting mode with this set.

Re: [ADIDAS] WD-62725 Issue [In reply to] Can't Post

You'll have to get the "chassis" out and the covers off of it.
Keep track of the screws and where they go. The chassis is to the far left. It contains the signal pcb, DM pcb, FMT pcb, and the power supply. The two to pay attention to are the power supply (towards the front), and the FMT (connected to the white DVI cable).

The FMT or Formatter sends the signal to the DMD on the light engine. The normal FMT problem is a red line rolling from the bottom to the top. The blue is what I'm concerned about. I've never seen one have blue blobs moving up.

Let me know,,,,,I'm having a rough week at work, may take a little while to get back to you. But I will get back as soon as possible.

I have found 4 bulged CAPS on the FMT(2nd photo) and one on the DM
Other than cleaning and replacing these. Do you suggest any other caps? I'm going to replace all the 1000uf CAPS

Re: [ADIDAS] WD-62725 Issue [In reply to] Can't Post

You have 4 on the FMT, 4 on the DM. The 4 in the upper right corner of the power supply (1000uf 16v). And the 2 with the blue stripe (don't remember the value).

WORD OF CAUTION. Discharge the filter caps on the power supply, if you discharge them into the circuit it WILL BLOW THE POWER SUPPLY.

The FMT is "probably" the issue, but no way of knowing until you try.

Re: [ADIDAS] WD-62725 Issue [In reply to] Can't Post

Take a set of needle nose pliers and jump across the 5 big capacitors. If there is a big spark, then they had a charge built up.

The only reason I mention that is I blew 2 of those supplies up when trying to replace the low voltage caps. The first one shocked the crap outa me first. LOL

Re: [74f100] WD-62725 Issue [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok I replaced the bad caps and put everything back together. Powered the TV and all I get is a blinking green light.....Frown

Looks like someone has done some work on the power supply before so I ordered a used one and installed it and now the same thing happened,,,green blinking light.

If it is the FMT I'm not sure what to do. But one would think if it was working when I took it apart it should work when put back together....Unless I missed something.

I even disconnected the USB from the card reader and light still blinks.

Any ideas?

Go back and check all the ribbon cables. Also make sure the E2P is connected (the small board on the DM).

I've done at least 100 of those, and every now and then that would happen to me.

Re: [74f100] WD-62725 Issue [In reply to] Can't Post

OK, this may be a stupid question but there is a connection directly in front of the small E2P board but I cannot find a cable that it suppose to connect to that. Is that suppose to be not connected or is there a wire for it?
