Westinghouse LCD - Green, Red, Blue vertical lines Can't Post

I am a noob at this and wondering what the problem or parts that need to be replaced. It starts up blank and when it warms up the whole screen; it would be filled with green red blue vertical lines all over the monitor. I am unable to change channels or change to different inputs.

The Story:
I bought a TV stand and while replacing the current one I have, I moved the TV on the floor. I didn't bump it and handled it very carefully. The LCD was working prior to moving it.

WinkI had a very similar experience with my Sanyo 26" LCD. I read as many posts as I could from the Tv Repairman because he sounded like he knew he was talking about. One of his posts he said he could not recount the number of LCD's he's repaired that requjired nothing more than removing the cables on the tcon board and replacing them so I tried it and "bingo" it worked. It's really simple but be certain you have an antistatic strap on and you know how to remove the cables. Hope it works for you.

Thanks for answering. If it is as simple as replacing cables, it should not be hard for me as I probably can look it up. I want to ask though how to tell which parts to order and replace. Is it the LVDS cable?

Re: [kayakpeak] Westinghouse LCD - Green, Red, Blue vertical lines [In reply to] Can't Post

Let me give you an update since my last post. Once I put in the new tcon board and plugged the unit in to see if it worked I secured the cover of the board and put the back panel in place. Plugged the unit in again and had the same problem, verticle lines of various colors. After several take apart and back together I think I have found the culprut. There are two cables into the board. One of them is a pin connection that slides into the receiver socket on the board. The smaller one is a connection that you need to lift a tab on the top of the connection that provides pressure on a cable with exposed wires embedded in the cable. You need to lift the tab and the cable will slide out. The problem at least on mine was that cable allowed no room for slack, consequently when I secured the cover over the board it caused a slight stretch of that cable which in turn caused an insecure connection of those bare metal strips on the bottom of that cable. As long as I do not secure the board as it was the TV works fine. Just for fun I re-installed the old tcon board and did not secure the cover over the board which allowed for some slack in the cable and guess what, it worked. My guess and only a guess is that over time that cable has shrunk enough from small amounts of heat to break the connection. Check both of your cables to make sure they are not so tight as to cause a pull on either one. Good luck

Probably shouldn't have used that six-foot pry bar to remove it from the wall.
