Zenith 32" SL3285BG Blows fuse Can't Post

I have a Zenith 32" SL3285BG that keeps blowing fuse FX3403 (2A).

Set has no raster, but it has sound.

Any suggestions what to check out?

MOST OF THE TIME YOU'LL FIND A SHORTED HORIZONTAL OUTPUT TRANSISTOR.

THE NEXT THING I DO IS DISCONNECT THE BOARD FROM THE SET AND TRY TO FIND THE SHORT WITH A VTVM.GETTING THE SERVICE INFO SEEMS TO ALWAYS BE A HASSLE UNLESS YOU JUST PAY SAMS THE 20 DOLLARS FOR THE SCHEMATIC. THE HIGH FAILURE RATE ITEMS ARE USUALLY THE HORIZ OUTPUT TRANSISTOR, FLYBACK AND THEN CAPS IN THE HORIZ SWEEP CIRCUITS. DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUIT DESIGN, A HORIZ CKT CHIP/IC IS ALWAYS MY NEXT SUSPECT.

GOOD LUCK

A fellow tech just had the exact problem with that module and found that the flyback was bad. He obtained a replacement flyback from MAT Electronics and though it solved the original problem, the set now plays for 5 or 10 minutes before shutting down. We are still trying to figure out if it is the replacement flyback or some other related problem. Shadetree's suggestion seems to be the simplest solution. You might also want to check out www.FreeFlatScreens.com/?r=10948674 for an opportunity to earn a free replacement for this set with a little effort on your part.
