Zenith Tv dead, blown fuse, question Can't Post

Have a 12 year old tv that all of a sudden made a pop sound is is fully dead. Opened up the back and the AGC glass fuse, 4amp 250 volts is blown... I have an some extra 3amp 250 volt fuses I found... Even-though the orignal was a 4amp, can I try the 3amp to test it?
This fuse is on the power supply board.
Thanks

Something blew that fuse. Replacing it, even with the correct one will only see the fuse blow again, instantly.

look in the middle of chassis for a 5 pin voltage regulator ic mounted on a metal heatsink if the small black transistor in front is blown apart you have a shorted picture tube if so junk iT THIS IS VERY COMMON IN THOSE SETS

Thank you, but I'm not sure where to look. I just took this pic, maybe you can help me a little more.

The model TV is SM2722RK.

Well looking at the pic and his description its the only heat sink in the middle of the board. The heat sinks being the big metal C shaped attacked to components. If it has a black square attached to it and has 5 leads below it then thats the voltage regulator. A transistor has 3 leads coming out from the thing, so just look around that heat sink and look for a component that has 3 leads coming from the base. The leads should be clearly seen as transistors aren't mounted very close to boards.

UPDATE.

Well, I tried putting in a 3amp 250 volt fuse just to test it, (original fuse was a 4amp 250 volt). Slid the new glass fuse in, plugged the power cord in for about 2 seconds only, then smelled burning and saw the fuse turn BRIGHT RED!

Something else must be really messed up...

Drove to Sam's club and found a 32" flat JVC tube tv, on clearence for $259!!! Normally $400. Killer deal. So this will replace for now.
