Re: [capted] dark picture on samsung [In reply to] Can't Post

Hey guys heres an update. I went to check powers and loose solder the other day. Nothing found. cleaned out the dust and checked the connections. I did do a convergence chip repair on this unti so I figured I left a connector loose or something like that. Put it together and it worked normal. Well naturally I went to watch it the other night and it went dead. No pic or sound. The timer light stays on solid. Any ideas before I take the unit apart again to check??? I'm thinking the power supply was starting to fail causing the picture to drop out...

Re: [capted] dark picture on samsung [In reply to] Can't Post

It's been awhile since I played with this t.v. so I figured I'd post my results. Maybe it will help somebody.
I purchased a new main board for the unit (only $120) hoping it would be a lucky guess. I put the new one in and noticed smoke right awayShocked!!!! Swaped out with the old one and no picture still. The picture went completely dead before I purchesed the new board by the way.
Now I thought about the original problem for some time. I did unplug each color signal from the component connections to see which color was dropping out when the original problem was happening.. It ended-up that the blue crt shutting down... So now I pulled the connector off the blue crt board and put the new main board back in the t.v. It worked!!!! I had a picture back on the t.v. minus the blue.. Now here comes the stupid part... I plugged the crt board back on and disconnected the actual crt from the board.. Turned the t.v. back on and the magical smoke came back. Only problem now is I think I fried the main board again because even with the blue crt board disconnected the t.v. will not power back onPirate..

Not a Happy ending but I figured I would keep everyone posted.. Now I also found some burnt chips on the blue crt board. Now I am wondering if the crt was going bad or just that crt board???
