flat screen tv question

can i take the plastic cover off the hisense tv? it sat in a burned house for a few months over wither and yesterday i finally got to power it up. it played good but it has a dark mark along the left side. it kind of looks like some dirt from the roof managed to find it's way behind the plastic screen cover and the lcd screen. if that cover is just there and not glued onto the lcd then i will take it off and clean it and the lcd and put it back.
on a side note how do i contact the mod? i really need to change my email it is real hard to use this site with the email they are making meuse as i don't use that email but for this site. thanks
