light strips Can't Post

let me start out by saying that i am a newb when it comes to fixing tv's
all i really do s replace led's, led strips or boards..i have a fairly good understanding of how electronics work .. but please bear with me..

my issue is that i have a tv(LG 32LB5800 UG) that powers on you get sound but no picture.
I am trying to test the LED's with a home made tester made from a couple Double A batteries. i have light strips from a tv that i repaired awhile ago that i have tried the tester on and it works perfectly. but on this TV it acts like all of the LEDs are dead. I am testing them individually by touching one probe to each side of the LED but there is nothing. IS it possible that all of them are dead or could it be something else? would the voltage from the tester be wrong for these particular LED's?
just seems weird.
