when i adjust contrast and brightness lower the screech stops but the picture looks terrible.

What does the picture look like?
Is the picture actually changing size and focus?
The noise is probably from the flyback transformer.

Alan,thanks for responding.The picture looks fine and does not change size or focus.I am not a tv repair man but I repair several different kinds of electronic equipment at work.Is the flyback transformer something I might be able to repair or replace myself?
