replacing component on power board Can't Post

Hi guys, first user here. My TV has decided to quit on me and given that our society doesn't value sustainability I can't get it repaired. So I might as well try and fix it myself.

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert, or electrician but love to tinker.
I took off the back plate to have a look and saw a blown capacitator. It fully exploded so it wasn't that hard to find. I have also found the replacement part and am happy to resolder it.
I am looking for your expert opinion whether anything else could be damaged or is known to be damaged and should be replaced as well? I don't see anything else visibly wrong.

The TV is an LG42" with board LGP4247L-12LBP (EAX64427101 (1.4) Rev 1.0). Some pictures I took are linked below.

Re: [tompom] replacing component on power board [In reply to] Can't Post

Which one blew, Tom - that small blue poly capacitor?

That seems unusual to me - usually it's the large cylindrical electrolytic ones that leak and then blow.

Well done for finding a replacement - I presume the value was clearly printed?

Anyhoo, what you really want to know is if you should replace any other components! The answer is I dunno... It's quite possible that another component is failing and this caused this cap to blow, but it's equally likely that the cap was always vulnerable and finally gave in with no external cause.

Since they are cheap, I would simply replace the cap alone and see what happens. :-)

Re: [Devs] replacing component on power board [In reply to] Can't Post

Hey Devs, thanks for the reply! I found the schematics for the board online and went with that. After replacing the capacitator nothing happened but I had a poke around and found the 250v fuse just above the main inlet blew.

Replaced that and lo- and behold now j have a working TV. So happy right now, never thought it would actually work!!

Fab news!

The heart-dropping moment when your repair seemingly didn't work, followed by the face-palm when you discover a blown fuse!

D'oh! :-)
