samsung plasma no power pn58b550 help?	Can't Post

Samsung Plasma PN58B550T2FXZA
No power, no leds, no noises when trying to power on with remote or front panel. All fuses are good, didn't have standby voltage so I replaced the main power board. BN-44-00280A
I have standby voltage, but same symptoms, not even trying to power up or throw relays...
Please help!

See if you are getting P-on from the main and Vs-on from the logic.

Thanks Jim,
I received my replacement power supply board and I have 5.1v STBY going to Main board as well as 4.3v of AC_DET. Nothing significant going to the logic board, there's 5.3v printed near the connector, but I have 0v there.
I have 3.2v of PS_ON from the logic and main boards....and 0v of VS_ON from both boards when the remote power button is pressed.
The flow diagram in the service manual recommends replacing the Main board, but I'm not convinced the power supply is good yet.
I'm not sure what to do. Help???

Disconnect the line going to the Y-main, then check and see if Vs comes up. If so, then the problem is with the y-main or buffers.

No Vs! :(
I replaced the Main board...still no luck. Red standby led, no other power.
Should there be 5.3v going to the Logic in standby mode, or is that only after power up?

No Vs with y and Z disconnected while getting the Vs on pulse would mean a bad SMPS.

Do you know where I can get a schematic for the SMPS? I can't find one online anywhere. I've had two SMPS's sent to me...I can't believe the bad luck I'm having!

I just went back on the thread. No Vs on pulse would be the problem.

Vs on "usually" comes from the logic. Different sets create this pulse in different ways. I'll see if this has it driven from the main or if it is from the logic and get back to you.

No problem.

I'm not sure where you can find prints on these. I get them from the service center web site, but they don't allow any distribution out side of an ASC.

Ok, I checked the procedures for this set. You have 5v stby. When you push the power button it should bring the PS-on to 0, then the Vs on should come on.

Look up a procedure for force run. The manuals for this set are some of the worst I've ever seen, and they expect people to provide quality service with that junk!!

But one note I did find helpful, the Vs on is coming from the main, not the logic. So your problem is going to be SMPS or main. Nothing else is involved in initial turn on. Unfortunately with this quality of service lit. I won't be much help, I am almost completely in the dark.

Thanks again Jim! Sorry about the idiot that hijacked this thread with that nonsense!

I've replaced the SMPS twice, and the Main once. I know it's a problem with the SMPS, but I can't find a schematic for it. I have a tech coming out Thrusday, I'm hoping he can do a component-level repair on the SMPS!

Ask that tech if he knows component level electronics. Unfortunately most TV techs now know nothing about electronics.
