Read this http://www.elec-toolbox.com/...ulinfo/lightprot.htm ... then:
1) Troubleshoot and repair the damaged power supply &/or system control portions of your Sanyo, or since it was getting old anyway...
2) Time to go shopping for:
a) a new TV AND
b) a lightning protection system
Of course with any of the above choices you could always JUST UNPLUG all when not being used or as storms are forecast.
