sv2000 19" won't turn on

i'm a broke college kid, just in case you're wondering why i don't just buy a new tv. so, i have an sv2000 model number 19sv07b101. it's distributed by phillips electronics if that helps.
it will try to turn on, but then immediately turn back off. i pulled the fuse and put a light bult in it's place, but it didn't light up. so it's not a short, right? that's all i know, any help would be appreciated
