toshiba cf3566a Can't Post

I have a 10 year old Toshiba CF3566a that has a 5" horizontal black band across the bottom of the screen. The rest of the image is 'squeezed' vertically. Also, it the set does not power up unless the cord has been disconnected for some time and even then it does not always start. Throw away and buy a new one for $550 or what?

Re: [jon] toshiba cf3566a [In reply to] Can't Post

I got this from a post from Alan within this Forum: I just repaired a 26" Toshiba with the same symptoms. There are two brown colored Elna caps, both were bad. They are hard to find, and are in various locations on different models. I found it easiest to just look for the brown color under good light.

I quote Alan from a post within this forum:
"Change C301 & C305=1uf or 2.2uf, 50v both are redish brown colored Elna brand radial electrolytic
capacitors, one is located near the color processor."

I am looking for the power-on problem myself, let me know when you find it. Must be rather common to Toshiba.

Good luck,
DAN
