tuner inside older TV? Can't Post

So I have an Orion model tv1928 made in 1997. I dont have the remote(its on order though). I try to set it on channel 3 or 2 so it will recieve a cable signal but its acting like it is stuck between channel 2 and 3,like it needs to be "fine tuned" or something. Poor signal on both. Is there a tuner inside the tv I can manually adjust to fine tune it to channel 2 or 3? I have the set open but I dont know what to look for in there. Thanks for any help.

The question you should be asking is "why would you want to spend a minute even trying to fix such an old CRT TV"? Just recycle it and go to Craig's List and look in the free section in the city where you live and you will find dozens of old CRT TV's better than the one you want to fix.

Its been sitting in my closet about 6 years and if a simple fix will get it working I'd like to do that. Might just need the remote.

A digital tuner is not easy to work on, and the time spent even attempting to do so will almost certainly be wasted time. The components are tiny, the tuner itself is soldered to the main board, and it's enclosed in an EMI shield. As a professional, I've tried to repair some older digital tuners and failed most of the time. Take my advice. Junk it! You can get a MUCH BETTER one for free with a remote on Craig's List or a Garage Sale. Sometimes you just have to walk away from a defective unit and your TV is one of those. So when you get your remote, send it back for a refund and do what I said.

Does TV acknowledge that it is tuned to Channel 2 or 3 (OSD indicates?)?

Does the Cable box indicate that it is putting out on that SAME RF Channel?

Yes it shows its on ch 3 or whatever I put it on. I'm hoping the remote will have an autoscan function and will properly tune to ch 3.If not I guess I'm screwed. I only paid 5.00 total for the remote off ebay so its not a big deal.

You didn't answer:

Standard FS tuner -NO fine tune.
If I am recalling correctly, this is set where you cannot remove the channel OSD without the "Call" button.

You seem to be evading an answer ... let's try
MAKE & MODEL of CABLE box?
