Same problem, except I know my code ... still managed to lock the thing up. AIWA still have support across the world, UK number is 0870 168 9000. There will be a charge involved no doubt.
The old fable is that you could put your machine in the freezer for a while - the cold should erase any innate memory and reset the anti-theft - I hasten to add I've not tried this and would probably not do it unless there was no other option!!!

turn the power off and open up vcr and locate the IC-39 EPROM and short the 7th and 3 pins using a watch battery (or bios battery) and 2 wires that will reset the system memory on the vcr close up vcr and wait 2 min turn on vcr and you will see a menu go to set feactory defaults and enter the model number of your vcr in the first box
enter the location of the vcr in second box (example eurpe us canada asia)
enter the input power suply in the third box
enter the output powersuply of the main transformer in the fourth box
exit menu and setrtings are saved automaticaly to the eprom turn off vcr and wait 2 min
congratulations your vcr is unlocked and reset to factory defaults

this has worked for me in the past with sevral difrent types of vcr all from difrent makes but i am uncerten if this works with all vcr's
