Goodmans VCR detached spring carrier tray

Hi all,
Newbie here, I've been fiddling around with my old Goodmans VCR and noticed the carrier seemed loose, and I'd have to take the lid off and hold the tape down to stop the auto-tracking constantly kicking in, and even then it varies from tape to tape. I noticed a loose spring on the right attached under the carrier tray (linked pic) and wondered if anyone here might know where it's meant to attach to.
