Install idler tire on 1980s Panasonic PV-1430

I have a middle 80s Panasonic VCR that needs a new idler tire. Model pv 1430...a real nice hifi stereo unit. The idler assembly seems to be common to many panasonics of the 80s. I attach an image. How do you change the tire? I ideally would like to do this with the assembly off..Im afraid of breaking the plastic components. .is there an easy way to do this or to change the tire with the assembly mounted? Thanks
