No sound on VCR channel?

hey guys, i'm using a matsui Vp 9605 old model, but just for playing tapes in a bedroom etc.. the troubl eis, the tv tuner within the vcr for recording is tuning into channels fine, 1005 crystal clear same as ever, but is now recording no sound & when i display the chanel via the VCR on my TV i am getting no sound still, i'm not sure how much of a hassle this would be/how hard it would be to fix, or if some switch got flipped, but if anyone has any ideas, please, drop me a line.
