PROGRAMMING REMOTE FOR VCR Can't Post

I have a CheckMate V RT-U50 remote control and have programmed it to turn on the Panasonic VCR. However, even tho the remote's instructions say you should be able to control the VCR, I cannot record, ff or rewind from the remote at all....I have to revert to the VCR remote to do any of these. Any ideas for a novice please?Unsure

Your checkmate VRT-U50 is somewhat a Universal remote. It can only program the basic functions of any vcr such as , power, play rewind, fforward and stop. if the remote instructions states, you should be able to control the vcr is bec. it does function any of the above. (lol it sounds funny!) but universal remote still limits the original.
