Problem with loading motor? Can't Post

Hi! I have a Sears 30521 from 1991 I think and it worked great for many years but now there's a problem... The problem is that everything that requires the loading motor and loading gears to move doesn't work because it gets stuck. But if I move the gears manually it works fine... And when the gears move counterclockwise they always get stuck but when they move clockwise they almost always work. Here are youtube videos of the VCR.

Ok I finally managed to remove the belt. Now where do I buy replacement ones? Will any rubber band work or do I need special belt?

Appears to be Hitachi made. What is 'UL' code? FCC#? (on rear of machine.)

This should answer majority of your questions.

IF you can accurately determine the belt you need, you may be able to obtain it elsewhere cheaper (approx. $1 or less).

I couldn't find any "UL" code or FCC# anywhere on the machine. A lot of parts inside are made by Sanyo and there's a sticker on the back that says "Licensed by Telesonics Systems" . Under the unit is written "Kaizuka Sanyo" and "Idemitsu Petrochemical"

But can I use an ordinary rubber band to replace the belt?

I would say yes ... for short term and testing use ONLY.
I would say NO for long term usage.
First you'll have to locate a square rubber band - most have a rectangular cross-section. A non-square belt will eventually jump off pulley.
Rubber bands also will deteriorate quickly and snap.

1) Some people use gasoline to start their charcoal grill.
2) Very few people would use charcoal start fluid in their internal combustion engines.

Although BOTH will work, both can cause major damage when used in improper application.

Once you have accurately determined the belt that you need ...

http://www.suburban-electronics.com/...-Parts---BELTS---SBL

One EXAMPLE: This is NOT the only choice of purveyors (MAT and MCM Electronics also come to mind).

Availability & shipping NOT taken into account ... assumes: .079" square; 2.4" to 13.6" inside circumference and bear in mind that in most instances these are N.O.S. (New Old Stock) and that number of remaining choices dwindle as time passes. In other words, when stock depletes to zero on a particular size, they do NOT reorder more.
