Sylvania VCR problems recording DVC845E

My VCR was working fine. Now it stops recording before finished, the red light flashes which the manual says is because the recording is paused but I didn't pause it. I opened it and found a loose roller and returned it where it belongs. Also the playback is fuzzy and audio is distorted (either too fast or too slow). I hope you can help, and thanks in advance.
