VCR head specs. and EP recording Can't Post

Sorry if this isn't a repair question, but I thought it was a good place to ask about a technical issue.

I need to buy a vcr and am looking at various dvd/vcr combos. I'm not looking to record to dvd.

Toshiba claims to have a 19 micron head system optimized for EP recording. The other vcrs I've looked at are all 4 micron heads.

Does anyone know what that means, and if there is any real advantage. Or is it just so much smoke?

Thanks for any help.

definitely! 19 microns real advantage for ep recording when recording extended. the head drums tends to slow it's rotations however it optimizes the recording clearer in level where stand alone 4 head vcr capability in EP mode do not. Also, depends the quality of the tape used.
