i have no knowledge of electronics. is there maybe an area around the fuse area where i could just install all new capacitors. if not with the schematics i might be able to check some things. right now i don't know what to look for. any free schematic downloads?

That would be my plan of action IF you don't have ANY secondary voltages.

Measure chassis frame to multi-pin connectors.

Does PS have a part number?

You can try replacing all the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board. If that doesn't fix it, you don't have the knowledge or test equipment to go any further. Time for dumpster basketball!
